People First Democracy
Mission
Force government to hold a binding referendum on the drafting and approval of a citizen-driven, values and principles based constitution. A direct democracy based political system to provide a solid foundation for governing Britain in the interests of the majority population of Britain.
Key Principles
-
Introduction of ‘delegative’ direct democracy to replace representation. The electorate to be wholly and directly involved in the approval of all government legislation and budgets.
-
The replacement of closed book, surreptitious government with open book, transparent government conducted in full accordance with the expressed will of the people.
-
The introduction, for all elected politicians and appointed public servants, of direct individual and collective accountability (to include resulting criminal liability). Decisions and / or actions contrary to the constitution, or outside the defined scope of authority to result in investigation and prosecution.
Action
1. Raise awareness of need to transfer power from politicians, public service appointments, large organisations and corporations to the nation’s citizens.
2. Draft, compile and distribute for completion:
-
a comprehensive survey of British citizens to capture their own needs and aspirations.
-
a proposed Constitution document to act as the ultimate legislative authority and framework for all government, public services, businesses and citizens.
3. Plan, prepare and launch a campaign of direct action in support of a referendum on the adoption of a revised constitution.
